Happy Halloween!

Notwithstanding the scary events that transpired up in Oregon, I had a great Halloween. Loyette went trick-or-treating for the first time — she was a pirate — and seemed to enjoy herself a lot. (She also loved helping us give candy to the neighborhood kids.) Loyacita came along for the ride in the Baby Bjorn, dressed as a tiger. Both girls were adorable. 🙂 For my part, I followed through on my plan to dress up as a bandwagon fan:

For those keeping score at home, nine teams are represented: the Red Sox and Rockies, by the pinned-together double hat; USC and Notre Dame, by way of the contrasting shirts and buttons (which say “BEAT NOTRE DAME” and “WE ARE ND”); Gonzaga basketball, University at Buffalo football, UConn, Tennessee and Winthrop. Alas, I was unable to work my t-shirts for Butler, Iowa State and the Missouri Valley Conference into the costume — and I couldn’t include such notable bandwagons as Boise State and BYU, because I don’t actually own any of those teams’ paraphernalia. 🙂

Anyway… our neighborhood is absolutely insane for trick-or-treating — we exhausted nineteen bags of candy in under three hours, at one piece of candy per kid. And that’s despite having to turn a lot of kids away during the period of time when we had run out of candy, and I was at the supermarket buying more.

I hope y’all had a great night, too. Here are some more Halloween pictures. If our jack-o-lanterns look a little droopy in the first pic, it’s because the melting snow softened them up a bit.

That last picture is of the awesome ice sculpture/booze luge at the kickin’ party our neighbors threw Friday night. (With my mom visiting from Connecticut, we had a built-in babysitter.) Good times. 🙂

Tomorrow: the Requiem!

To really match your outfit, the Iowa State shirt would have been much better on Friday night, or at least before Saturday afternoon. 🙂

Glad to hear that trick-or-treating is still alive in at least some places.
