First of all Markazi needs to go back to his old hairstyle, this one completely sucks. Secondly, USC seriously lost their mojo this season. I don’t think Markazi or me or anyone else can really give advice to a coach that has accomplished what Pete Carroll has. As an outsider it really seems like a sophomore slump of sorts. After all the massive achievements there just had to be a season where things didn’t click, it’s a natural course of history that even the greatest of teams, like the Lakers, experience from time to time.
I really wondered about what Charlie Weis said of Pete Carroll regarding the girlfriend in Malibu, or something of that personal nature. USC just didn’t seem in to football, collectively, during the 2nd half of the season beginning with the 4th quarter at Notre Dame stadium. Maybe the horrific weightlifting accident with Stafon Johnson took the wind out of the team. Maybe the new OC doesn’t run good plays. Maybe the new DC doesn’t know what the hell he’s doing. At least that’s what it looks like. I’m pretty confident, though, that next year we will see Pete Carroll pass Ara Parsighian in all-time wins, maybe that will happen in the season finale vs. ND, but I hope it happens a couple games sooner.
