Meh, Notre Dame didn’t suck during the Weis era because they lacked a “decided schematic advantage”. They sucked because he was so bad at all the additional things a head coach is responsible for vis a vis an offensive coordinator.
Given the contribution of CEO-type quarterbacks like Peyton Manning, its a bit harder to identify great Offensive Coordinators vs. Defensive Coordinators. That said, Weis may still be a robot genius…and better at being an offensive coordinator than head coach (as are all the other robots).
