FriendFeed: Last decade was …

Last decade was supposed to be the “Worst Decade Ever.” But this Haiti calamity is certainly getting the new decade off to an awful start. Maybe we should follow the purists’ advice after all, and say the decade goes from 2001-2010, in hopes of confining the craptasticness and getting a better “fresh start” next year?

What was so worst about last decade anyway, i mean outside the Bush Presidency, and the wars, and the economic collapse, and the .com bubble bursting, and the housing bubble bursting, the 4 in a row SEC national championships, Vince Young, Tyrone Willingham, Rick Neuheisal, “It’s Hard Out Here for a Pimp” winning an Oscar for best Song, Enron, Brittney Spears, Baseball on Steroids, Windows ME and Vista, the Motorla ROKR, Sarah Palin, etc.

I mean other than that it was fanTAStic.

I actually dug “Its Hard Out Here For a Pimp”! I’ve long felt that the snub of “Damn it Feels Good to Be a Gangster” from “Office Space” was driven by snooty Hollywood elite snobbishness, so it was good to see the fellas from the 3-6 Mafia representin’.

In seriousness, Jon Stewart’s crack after the award (“For those keeping score at home, that’s 3-6 Mafia, 1 Academy Award, Martin Scorsese, 0”) was one of the best lines from the Academy Award…EVER!

Supposed to be? Is that what THEY say? What do you say, oh Brendan? You had a pretty damned good decade from what I’ve seen. So did I – well, compared to yours it kinda sucked, but I’m still happy with it.

To flip some of David’s data points – seven consecutive Pac-10 championships for USC, three Heisman Trophies, two National Championships. I’m going to put ND firing Ty and hiring Charlie Weis in MY win column, along with New Weasel. LOTR trumps “It’s Hard Out Here for a Pimp”, even with its flaws.

If you WANT to be Danny Downer you can, but you have to ignore a lot of good shit. Think positive, man.

LOL, well played Doc, but with my shared loyalties the benefits of the Ty firing in regards to Notre Dame is outweighed by the costs to my UW Huskies 🙂
