I am a bit skeptical of this in that I find it somewhat hard to believe that you would hire a head coach with the stipulation that you are basically telling him who his staff should be. That, to me, seems incongrous with the behavior you normally see of coaches bringing in their own staff. Maybe it was that way in this case, maybe its more common than I am aware of, but i’ve never seen something like that that I can recall in college football.

Of course, maybe Kiffin was so eager to be the SC head coach that he was willing to agree to just about anything, who knows.

The speculation is preposterous. Anything a head coach says in a public interview is meaningless. The strategy and M.O. is discussed off mic and in private. Norm Chow doesn’t listen to AM radio. He’s got a lot better things to do, as do most working people… like vacation in Florida.
