    Well that’s as may be but the PM is quite correct actually, isn’t he. Well there you Are then. Thenk you veddymuchindeed. ;>

    “But of course I apologise if I had said anything that has been offensive and I would never put myself in a position where I would want to say anything like that about a woman I met.

    Not into an open mic, no.

    Mrs Duffy had quizzed Mr Brown about immigration claiming it was a taboo subject.

    [She seems to have pretty well Refuted her claim, right there. / ~the commentposter]

    During their exchange in a Rochdale street, she told the Prime Minister: “You can’t say anything about immigrants.”

    [See above / ~ the commentposter]

    She added: “All these eastern Europeans – where are they coming from?

    [I shall cling to my faith that the nimble previous PM might have replied, “Why, from eastern Europe I should imagine.” God but I miss Tony Blair. / ~ the commentposter :]

    Mr Brown told her a million people had come from Europe but another million Britons had moved the other way.

    The PM then shook her hand and told her it was “very nice to meet you”.

    From the Labour perspective the correct analysis would have been, “Look, she’s a bigot. But she’s OUR bigot.” ;}

    Now that I think about it [a Rarity, I grant you ;], it seems from Brown’s grovelling apologies that if there’s a Taboo Subject, it’s not Immigration, it’s Bigotry.

    I think Labour is in BIG trouble. They might just come in third in this thing, with the Lib Dems taking 1st. or 2nd. Andrew Sullivan really wants this to happen. I never knew this, but he apparently DETESTS Labour, and would rather the Lib Dems be the centre-left party.
