And a black Republican candidate, Tim Scott, handily defeated Paul Thurmond (son of Strom) in the Republican primary for a Congressional seat.
This means we are nearing the end of the 19th Century on the Republican Calendar.
Um, yeah, because there were no black Republicans in Congress during Reconstruction or anything. [/sarcasm]
