DU opened its 2010-11 season with a loss Friday, falling 65-49 in Eugene, Oregon to defending Big West double-champion UC-Santa Barbara. The Pioneers trailed by just 2 at halftime, 32-30, and the game was tied 37-37 with 14:58 left. But the Gauchos closed the game on a 28-12 run, which included a nearly seven-minute scoreless drought for the Pioneers. Here is Coach Joe Scott discussing the loss on the radio afterwards:
The Pioneers will take on the home team and tournament host, the Oregon Ducks, tomorrow at 9:30 PM Mountain Time.
