Generic Republican generically enters presidential race with generic ad

I’ve long said Tim Pawlenty is the “Generic Republican” — that mythical figure in the polls, who does better against Obama than actual Republicans with actual name recognition — much like Richard Gephardt was the “Generic Democrat” in 2004 who, in retrospect, would have stood a much better chance against Bush than any of the more exciting but deeply flawed front-runners for the Democratic nomination (eventual nominee/serial flip-flopper Kerry, screamer Dean, deranged narcissist & pathological liar Edwards, empty suit Clark). I’ve even attempted, without success so far, to start a #GenericRepublican meme on Twitter, because honestly, that’s who Pawlenty is.

Even I, though, am almost stunned by the overwhelming genericness of his exploratory committee announcement video, released today. Don’t get me wrong, it’s very well produced, in a generically-technically-proficient, generically-aping-modern-cinematography, generically-using-uplifting-music, generically-tugging-patriotic-heartstrings sort of way. But oh, the messaging! So freaking generic! I love it! Generic Republican 2012!

There are Pawlenty of other candidates to choose from, an ocean of Pawlenty. And if you like Good & Pawlenty, there is Pawlenty more where that came from…

You should be *ashamed* of yourself !

Uttering such a blatant example of Cruel and Unusual Punishment !

First off, I love the Generic Republican’s Generic Hometown, which lost some Generic Factory Jobs and had to fight for it’s Generic Future!

Wow. Just wow. This exceeded my Generic Expectations. Welcome, Tim Pawlenty. We need your Genericness now more then ever.

Though, hockey? With no football? That’s a Canadian sport! Not what REAL AMERICANS PLAY!!! 😉 (Says the resident hockey fan.)

AMLTrojan #5 – if anything, we would penalise him for high schticking – the series he used was distinkly pungent …

Right, Alasdair. Claiming infringement might be abridge too far but we can still schtick it to him.

In any case, this alarming spread of radical genericism is definitely becoming a threat to our Liberty. Yes, there are home-grown genericists among us, hiding in Very plain sight, hanging out at movie theaters & steakhouses & shopping malls & Episcopalian church halls whilst undergoing the genericistical radicalization process, sometimes under the tutelage of Foreign genericists in hotbeds like Finland and central Florida. / Peter King needs to open an Investigation before it’s too late. To those who say Homogeneity is Destiny I reply, not on My watch, even if it Is a Timex.

(But as to the stars in the Republican firmament, I predict that in a few months’ time we’ll see pawlenty palin in comparison to the demon barbour of yazoo city, 😉
