We’re having a baby tomorrow

Or maybe later today. But probably tomorrow.

At Becky’s OB checkup this morning, we learned that there’s been some progress since last Tuesday, and there is no longer any reason to even contemplate delaying the long-planned, and repeatedly hinted at, July 12 induction (that’s at 40 weeks + 4 days, for those scoring at home). So, tomorrow it is, unless she goes into labor between now and then.

(Any real-time updates are most likely to appear on Twitter, at @brendanloy and @MileHighBecky. Although we probably won’t be posting too many updates even there. But we’ll certainly let you know the big news when it happens.)

Baby Pool implications after the jump! But first, the baby’s heartbeat:

Oh, and speaking of babies… check out these five baby barn swallows in the nest above our front door, anticipating their mommy’s return:

No baby or @MileHighBecky labor yet, but here are the 5 baby birds (federally protected barn swallows) above our door:

They’re a federally protected species, so by law, we can’t do anything about the nest until they leave it. (I blame Obama!) Not that I’d really want to anyway. So cute! Here they are a few seconds before the above photo:

And here’s a video of what happened in between the photos:

Okay, anyway, like I said, Baby Pool implications after the jump!

We don’t know exactly when we’ll be going into the hospital, but they’re supposed to call us between 6am and 7am with more information, and I suspect we’ll probably be going in sometime in the morning. So the outcome of the date/time portion of the Baby Pool, as among the likely “Final Four” — Becky’s Uncle Larry Caplin, Alasdair, Keri Hyles and Evana Young — probably hinges on just how long it takes the pitocin to do its thing. Here again are the predictions (including David K., whose chances are dwindling by the minute, and Casey, whose slim chances were reduced to near zero this morning by the lack of any push for a delayed induction).

David K.: 7/11/11 8:11 AM (victory window: now to 8:17 PM tonight)
Larry Caplin: 7/12/11 8:23 AM (victory window: 8:17 PM tonight to 10:56 AM tomorrow)
Alasdair: 7/12/11 1:30 PM (victory window: 10:57 AM to 2:22 PM tomorrow)
Keri Hyles: 7/12/11 3:15 PM (victory window: 2:23 PM to 3:21 PM tomorrow)
Evana Young: 7/12/11 3:27 PM (victory window: 3:21 PM tomorrow to 2:59 PM Wednesday)
Casey Zak: 7/14/11 2:31 PM (victory window: anytime after 2:59 PM Wednesday)

It’s hard to say who’s the favorite among those four. Larry has a big window, but perhaps less of a chance if labor is induced, unless things move very quickly from that point. Alasdair and Keri have narrow, but very well-positioned, windows. Evana wins if the labor takes a while, or the induction is a little later in the day. She should hope for a rash of women going into labor in Denver overnight, so the L&D ward is overcrowded first thing in the morning. 🙂

My sister-in-law was induced in the morning and didn’t give birth til the late evening so Evana there is hope for you at least. Sad for the baby waiting so long, free birthday Slurpees would have been a cool thing if born today!

Orange you glad to know that your #3 daughter will have parades celebrating her birthday to which Venerable Grandpa can take her ?
